Best Multivitamin Without Copper

Multivitamins from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database whose labels list no copper, ranked by how completely the label discloses what is in the product.

Why People Avoid Copper

Most people need the 1 to 2 mg of copper a multivitamin supplies, especially anyone taking zinc long term, since zinc blocks copper absorption. The main reason to avoid it is Wilson disease, a genetic disorder of copper excretion in which any added copper is harmful.

Others avoid copper because they already take a separate zinc and copper product and want to control the ratio, or because a clinician has found high copper levels. If you take more than 25 to 40 mg of zinc daily, do not drop copper without a reason; zinc-induced copper deficiency causes anemia and nerve damage.
