Best Protein Powder Without Stevia

Protein powders from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database whose labels list no stevia, ranked by how completely the label discloses what is in the product.

Why People Avoid Stevia

Stevia sweeteners are purified steviol glycosides, mainly rebaudioside A and rebaudioside M, extracted from the stevia leaf. FDA treats high-purity extracts as generally recognized as safe; whole-leaf stevia and crude extracts do not have that status.

The most common reason to avoid stevia is taste: many people notice a bitter or licorice-like aftertaste, especially in unflavored or lightly flavored powders. A smaller group reports bloating, often from the sugar alcohols such as erythritol that stevia blends commonly include.

Products without stevia often use sucralose, monk fruit, or sugar instead. The table lists the sweeteners each label names.

Ranked by label detail (stated amounts, named forms, a complete other-ingredients list), then by fewest other ingredients. The ranking reflects what the label discloses, not product testing, purity, or efficacy.

Open Supplement Search, choose the Protein Powder tab, and turn on the "Stevia" chip under Exclude products containing. This page also requires a listed other-ingredients panel, since a label without one cannot show what it leaves out, so its count runs lower than the search page's.
